Grant Funded Websites in Hull & East Yorkshire.

Grant funding is currently available for new websites, website redesigns, and SEO campaigns.

Up to £2,500 in Grant Funding May Be Available for Your Website Project

Hull and East Riding businesses planning to grow online could qualify for funding that covers up to half the cost of a new website, redesign, or SEO content project. Subject to eligibility and approval.

A lot of businesses know their website needs work. The cost is often what holds them back.

Maybe you have been putting it off because there are more urgent things your business needs to invest in right now.

Maybe your business has grown since your website was first built, and your website is just not doing you justice anymore.

Maybe your website is up-to-date and performing well, but you want to further demonstrate your expertise, boost your authority, and stand out from your competitors.

If you are based in Hull or East Riding and you are planning to invest in a website project this year, there may be funding available to cover up to half the cost.

This is not a scheme available to everyone, and it is not a guarantee

It applies to specific projects, in a specific area (Hull & East Yorkshire), with a clear but non-negotiable application process. But if your plans qualify, you could receive up to £2,500 back on a project worth up to £5,000

The funding pot stands at approximately £100,000. This equates to around 100 to 120 grants. Once that pot runs out, it runs out (and it is projected to do so by August / September 2026).

If you are already thinking about a website project this year, it is worth spending 15 minutes finding out whether this applies to you.

Which of these sounds most like your situation?

This funding can apply to a few different scenarios, such as:

Your business does not have a website yet

Getting a professional website for the first time is one of the better investments a growing business can make. It is also, for a lot of people, a significant upfront cost. If that cost has been stopping you from taking the step, a grant that covers half of it is a huge saving.

Your current website no longer reflects your business

If your site looks dated, does not list your current services, or is simply not generating enquiries, a redesign may be overdue. Many businesses stay with a website that is not working for them because refreshing it feels expensive and disruptive. This funding could help you get the site that demonstrates your business growth, sooner than you expected.

You have looked into getting a new website before but the timing was not right

If you have already looked into getting a new website but the budget or circumstances were not quite right at the time, it may be worth revisiting now. A grant that covers up to half the cost is not an opportunity that comes up frequently.

You are an existing it'seeze client and your business has moved on

Services evolve. Teams grow. Customer expectations change. If your website was built a few years ago and your business looks different now, it may no longer be doing justice to where you are. A redesign, partly funded through a grant, is worth exploring while the opportunity is open.

You want to improve your content and search visibility, not just your design

A website that looks good but does not attract the right visitors is only doing part of its job. If you want to improve how you appear in search results, build out your content, and generate more consistent enquiries, an SEO content strategy project could qualify for this funding too.

What the funding covers and how it works

The grant is part of a programme designed to support business growth and development in Hull and East Riding. Website investment sits clearly within that scope.
The numbers

The grant covers 50 per cent of qualifying project costs. The minimum qualifying project value is £2,000, which attracts a £1,000 grant. The maximum project value for full grant coverage is £5,000, which attracts the maximum grant of £2,500.

For businesses that are not VAT-registered, the project cost is calculated inclusive of VAT. For VAT-registered businesses, it is calculated exclusive of VAT.
What can be included in the project

Website design and build
Website copywriting and content
Photography / videography for the website
SEO strategy and content creation, packaged as a single project

One important note: costs must be structured as a single project invoice rather than an ongoing monthly retainer. If you are considering SEO or content work, we can help you think through how to structure a qualifying project.
What you need to know before applying

You must not pay any amount towards the project, including a deposit, before the grant is formally approved. Payment by credit card is not accepted once the grant is in place. You will need three separate quotes for the proposed work (we can help you with this). And the project cannot begin until you have received written confirmation from the council.

We know those requirements sound specific. That is why we’ll walk you through every one of them before you speak to the grant adviser.

How we guide you through the process, step by step

The grant application has particular requirements, and missing a step means losing your eligibility. We have taken the time to really understand how this works, so that we can guide you through it properly.

Step 1 Tell us what you want to achieve

You do not need a fully formed brief. Tell us where your business is now, what is not working about your online presence, and where you want to get to.

Step 2 We build a clear project plan

We work out what your website or SEO project should include, put together a proper proposal, and help you understand what is likely to qualify.

Step 3 You speak with the funding adviser

The council adviser will assess your business, explain the eligibility criteria in full, and talk you through what documents you will need to gather.

Step 4 You pull together the required documents

This typically includes a recent bank statement, your last two sets of accounts or tax returns, and a profit and loss statement from your last return to the present day. We can help you understand exactly what is needed.

Step 5 You wait for approval before starting

This is important: do not start a project until you’ve had the go-ahead. Nothing is paid, and nothing begins, until you have received written approval. Starting before then makes a project ineligible.

Step 6 Your project moves forward

Once approved, you receive an offer letter from the council that secures your funding. You pay for the agreed work and claim back the approved amount. From a well-organised application to receiving payment, the process typically takes around three working weeks.

A website partner that’s local, experienced, and trusted

We have decades of experience in helping local businesses think carefully about what their website needs to do for their business.

When we help you put together a project proposal, we go further than just the visual design; we factor in your messaging, your business structure, your content, and how people find you online.

We also understand this funding process properly. We spoke directly with the council adviser to make sure we could guide our clients through it without any surprises. We know who is eligible, how the project costs need to be structured, and what documents you will need to prepare. When you come to us, you are not figuring this out alone.

Common questions about the website grant funding

Is this definitely available for my type of business?

The grant is open to businesses based in Hull or East Riding, and it is designed to support projects that contribute to business growth and development. A professional website, redesign, or packaged SEO content project typically fits within those aims. We can talk through your specific situation before you commit time to an application.
What if I have already started planning or getting quotes?

You can still explore this, but timing matters. You must not have paid any amount towards the project before the grant is approved. If you have had conversations and received quotes but not made any payment, you are likely still in a position to apply. Speak to us before taking the next step.
Do I need to get quotes from businesses I do not know?

Yes, three quotes are required. We can help you source these and what the quotes need to include to meet the grant requirements. They must be addressed to your business, clearly labelled as quotes (not invoices), and must state your VAT status. We talk through this with you before you approach anyone.
How long does the whole process take?

From a well-organised submission to receiving payment, typically around three working weeks. We recommend exploring this well before July/August, as the funding pot is finite and expected to run out by September.
My project might be less than £2,000. Can I still apply?

The minimum qualifying project cost is £2,000. If your initial plans fall below that, we can talk through whether there are additional elements (content, photography, SEO strategy, etc.) that would take the project to a qualifying level but also add value to your business at the same time.
What happens if the grant is not approved?

If the application is unsuccessful, you are under no obligation to proceed with the website project. You have not paid anything and nothing has started. You can make an informed decision about whether to go ahead at the full cost, or wait until your situation changes.

The funding pot is finite, and September is closer than it looks...

Around £100,000 in grant funding is available across roughly 100 to 120 projects in Hull and East Riding. This is not a rolling programme. When the pot runs out, it closes.

The funding is projected to be exhausted by September 2026. If you are already thinking about a website project this year, the practical step is to find out now whether your plans could qualify before the window gets smaller and the timelines get tighter.
